Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop (EESW)

This intensive professional development program provides advanced doctoral students and early career faculty with background literature, facilitated discussion, mentoring, and presentations designed to increase their knowledge and enhance their practice of community engaged scholarship. Participation in the Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop (EESW) is limited and interested applicants must be nominated to be considered for this workshop.

Leadership of Engagement 2019: An Engagement Academy Executive Seminar

Designed for senior administrators and faculty responsible for building capacity for public engagement, this year the Engagement Scholarship Consortium will host the Engagement Academy to support leaders in developing a focused community engagement agenda.

The content will include the latest in best practices and literatures on the subject of leadership in community engagement, as well as the skills needed to implement changes. Through case studies and analytical tools, participants will develop their ability to lead and "frame" engagement in a way that more effectively connects it to their institution's teaching, research, and service missions.

Outreach and Engagement Practitioners Network (OEPN) Workshop

The Outreach and Engagement Practitioners preconference workshop is designed for university staff, non-tenure-track faculty, and community partners who facilitate, manage, direct, and administer ongoing projects, programs, services, research, and relationships between institutions of higher education and community partners. These professionals span the boundaries between campus and communities and have an emerging professional identity and a unique set of strengths and challenges that will be addressed in this workshop. Because of the overlap in roles, skills, and values, all "boundary spanners" who facilitate community-university partnerships are welcome and encouraged to attend.


Pre-College and Youth Programming Workshop

2019 Workshop Program

The 4th national Pre-College and Youth Programming Workshop will focus on the role of postsecondary institutions in providing a wide range of youth programming and access to universities. This workshop will explore ways in which universities and institutions, through youth programs, have had an impact on student decisions to enroll in postsecondary programs.  Topics that will be included in the workshop include: Pre-College Programming Model: 25 Dimensions | A Beta-Test Study; youth safety and legal implications of pre-college work on college and university campuses; registration systems and resources; community programs and connections; and evaluation methods. All participants will receive a workbook and training materials to continue to advancing their knowledge and skills.

The workshop is designed for postsecondary education administrators, faculty, staff, and graduate students; program directors and coordinators (GEAR UP, Upward Bound, Trios, etc.); K-12 teachers, counselors, and administrators; and, community representatives interested in the role of pre-college and youth development programs.
