Suzette Brémault-Phillips

An Occupational Therapist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta who hold holds a PhD in Theology, Suzette Brémault-Phillips has practiced as a therapist for over 25 years. Her content and clinical expertise is in the areas of adult and geriatric mental health, community health service delivery, the management of challenging/responsive behaviors and complex needs, caregivers and family supports, psycho/social/spiritual issues, cognitive and functional assessments, environmental design, and health promotion/illness prevention. Her research interests include community engagement scholarship, and practice-based and -led research that incorporates both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Her research is in the areas of addictions and mental health, seniors health, complex needs, the use of mobile information and communication technology in health service delivery and self-managed care, and spirituality and health. Her clinical and scholarly activities have enabled her to develop skills in networking, public engagement, collaboration with health systems, and integrated knowledge translation. Several research projects and various provincial initiatives in which she has been involved have drawn on and incorporated community engagement and community-based research approaches.
