Outreach and Engagement Practitioners Workshop
A Preconference Event of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium Annual Conference
October 7, 2019
The cost for attending is $100.
The Outreach and Engagement Practitioners Pre-Conference workshop is for boundary-spanning community engagement professionals interested in learning more about emerging and ongoing trends in community engagement scholarship. The workshop is designed for university staff, non-tenure-track faculty, and community partners, who facilitate, manage, direct, and administer ongoing projects, programs, services, research, and relationships between institutions of higher education and community partners. Because of the overlap in roles, skills, and values, all boundary spanners who facilitate community-university partnerships are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to learn from one another and identify strategies to help their institutions to be advocates that are more effective leaders and change-makers in their communities. Assessment of partnerships, good engagement practices, and institutional frameworks in higher education are all topics that will be discussed. Participants will be able to take home new strategies to advance this work.
The 2019 Pre-Conference workshop will be held on the University of Colorado - Boulder campus. The morning workshop will be followed by a community site visit to the National Center for Atmospheric Research to see the Green Suits: Sustainability in Action exhibit and hear from the university-community project collaborators. Workshop attendees will then have the option to participate in a tour highlighting some of the Boulder campus' outreach and engagement efforts or attend the ESC newcomer orientation session in Denver. The day will conclude with a networking dinner in Denver near the conference hotel.
The registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as, transportation to/from Denver and the site visit.
For more information on the OEPN Pre-Conference Workshop, please contact the Planning Co-chairs: Jeanne McFarland-McDonald (email@example.com), University of Colorado - Boulder or Carol Agomo (firstname.lastname@example.org), University of Alabama.
